What the donor should know
Donors can only be healthy people over the age of 18. Blood should be safe for patients, so it is very important that a healthy person understands how valuable their contribution is.
Do not drink alcohol or smoke 2 hours before the procedure, as well as 2-3 hours after blood donation, a few days before donation. The toxic effects of nicotine entering the bloodstream are dangerous for patients, especially newborns, as well as for your health immediately after blood donation.
Blood should be donated when it is healthy and at rest.
list of recommended products before plasma delivery (2 days in advance)
- lean boiled beef;
- boiled chicken without fat and skin;
- boiled fish (low-fat varieties);
- vegetables in cooked or raw form (remove beets 2 days in advance!);
- white bread;
- buckwheat, rice cooked on water;
- raw fruits, berries (blueberries should be removed 3 days in advance) or compote;
- juices, mineral water, Sweet Tea;
- jam, honey, jam.
delete (a few days before donation):
- alcohol,
- nuts,
- seeds,
- mayonnaise,
- Oil of all kinds,
- soft drinks containing coloring substances.
Take the donation with you:
- ID card / passport / military ID card
On the day of blood donation (components), do not consume spicy, fatty foods and dairy products, we recommend eating vegetables, fruits and coarse flour products.
Before giving the donation procedure, be sure to drink a glass of juice, water or tea. On the day of blood donation in the morning, a light breakfast is recommended-sweet tea with bread or cookies.
Drink more fluids even in the days after blood donation. This will create the best conditions for you.
Do not take medications before giving blood (components). Do not take aspirin for 3 days before blood donation.
Keep in mind that patients (they may also be your loved ones) need the blood of a healthy, uninfected person. Your desire to help another person should be sincere and selfless.
Before each blood donation, carefully read all the questions of the questionnaire and answer honestly, because only together can we preserve your health and well-being and ensure the safety of transfusion of blood components to the patient.
A citizen who has consented to become a donor of blood and its components is obliged to provide him with information about previous and existing diseases, as well as about the use of narcotic drugs.
A citizen who intentionally conceals or distorts information about his / her state of Health shall bear the responsibility established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, if such actions entail or may lead to a significant violation of the health of recipients.
Medical examination of the donor, distribution or referral of donation of blood and its components and determination of the type is carried out by a transfusiologist or therapist of the Republican Blood Center.
All information about the donor and his health is confidential.
When donating blood, only disposable sterile instruments are used, thanks to which you are completely protected from infection.
Do not rush to get up immediately after the blood donation, we recommend that you relax (at least 10 minutes), drink juice, tea or coffee (this will help compensate for the loss of fluid in the body) and eat cookies.
If redness appears around the vein after blood donation, your well-being worsens, or you feel weak, contact the Blood Center, and experienced staff will be able to provide you with the necessary assistance immediately.
Intervals:
- between blood donations - 2 months,
- between plasmodachs (platelet delivery) - 14 days;
- women can donate blood 4 times a year,
- men-5 times a year.
The donor receives a day off at his place of work – the day of blood donation and any other day of his choice. In addition, regular donors regularly monitor their health status.
There are the following categories of donors:
1. blood donors;
2. plasma donors;
3. donors of blood cells (platelets);
4.donors with a specific antigenic structure of red blood cells and white blood cells, blood used for diagnostic purposes.
